Meet Nigerian aunty making it big in London by filming moving buses

A Nigerian in the United Kingdom, Bemi Orojuogun, has gradually grown from an internet sensation to an influencer earning dollars from brand collaborations, simply for posing with moving London buses from a roadside pavement.

Picture a middle-aged Nigerian aunty whose TikTok page is filled with videos of her standing on the streets of London, phone in hand, filming double-decker buses as they pass. She doesn’t say anything in the clips, only beaming smiles with the sound of the buses heard.

The calm-looking woman, who recently collaborated with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, on London’s 2,000 zero-emission buses project, has gathered over 200,000 followers on TikTok and more than 20,000 on Instagram for her bus content.

Nicknamed “London Bus Aunty” by netizens, Orojuogun first went viral in 2024 after posting a video with a forced perspective; a visual trick where camera angle, distance or framing makes objects appear closer, larger or more threatening.

In one of her videos, Orojuogun clarified that she was not risking her life, as some social media users assumed she filmed from the middle of the road.

Still, her posture has often sparked concern, with both existing and new followers worrying that she appears to be endangering herself.

Some Nigerian commenters even dared her to try it back home, mentioning locations like Oshodi.
